Peace of mind, delivered with dignity

Welfare Checks

At Galan, we understand how important it is to know that someone is safe, supported, and seen, especially when distance or circumstance makes it hard to check in personally. That’s why we offer professional welfare checks for individuals across Kenya and select regions of East Africa.

Whether you’re a donor, family member, community leader, or support organisation, you can request a welfare check through our team of trained, compassionate professionals.

What We Offer:

  • In-person check-ins by trained field staff
  • Confidential, respectful engagement with individuals or households
  • Verbal and written reports based on physical observation, wellbeing indicators, and requested concerns
  • Follow-up recommendations and referrals where needed

Welfare checks can be requested for:

  • Vulnerable individuals in shelters or transitional housing
  • Displaced persons or refugees
  • Community members receiving aid or support
  • Loved ones who may need a discreet visit or check-in

We approach every visit with empathy, professionalism, and cultural sensitivity ensuring that dignity and safety remain at the core of every interaction.

    Welfare Check Disclaimer

Please read before requesting a welfare check.

The Galan Initiative’s welfare check service is designed to offer information and reassurance, not intervention or care.

Our role is to carry out a basic check-in on the person you’ve requested we contact, either by phone, video call, or in-person in a public setting. These checks are conducted by trained professionals or volunteers who report their observations and impressions back to you as the client. We do not provide mental health support, crisis response, medical care, legal advice, or social work services.

It is your responsibility as the client to determine what action, if any, to take based on the information provided. If we believe there is an urgent concern, such as a safety risk or visible distress, we will flag this clearly in our report, but we will not contact emergency services or take direct action on your behalf.

By requesting this service, you acknowledge and accept that:

    • The welfare check is informational only
    • The Galan Initiative is not liable for the health, safety, or wellbeing of the individual checked on
    • Any further support, assistance, or intervention is your responsibility as the client
    • The information shared is based on brief, limited interactions and is not a clinical or definitive assessment

We provide this service with care, professionalism, and compassion, but ultimately, it is up to you to decide what comes next.
